What services are offered at the Employee Assistance Program?
We believe that early identification is a positive step toward a long term resolution. EAP offers employees assistance in a variety of areas including:

  • Marital/family issues
  • Alcohol and substance abuse
  • Emotional health issues
  • Domestic violence
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Workplace stress
  • Legal problems
  • Financial problems
  • Childcare and eldercare
  • Lifestyle management/wellness
  • And more!

What can one expect when contacting EAP?

1. The individual contacts EAP to discuss and/or clarify a problem or issue. An appointment is generally held in the EAP office or the matter can be discussed on the phone.

2. With the individual, EAP's role is to clarify and assess the situation, and discuss resource and referral options. The EAP coordinator recommends various plans of action, explains insurance benefits, and makes appropriate community referrals.

3. With EAP support, the individual contacts resources, and makes arrangements for services.

4. EAP will ask for a follow-up contact or meeting to ensure employee satisfaction with the referral or to suggest an alternative course of action. Every situation is unique so this process will vary to meet individual's needs.

*Appointments are required and will gladly be set up for you at a convenient time- please no drop-ins!

Who is eligible for to use the Employee Assistance Program?
EAP services are free to faculty, staff, retires and their families. We try to make referrals to community providers covered by your insurance as often as possible.

Is EAP a confidential service?
EAP's services are confidential for employees and their dependents.

The only exceptions are:

1. When the information is required by law, executive order, or work rule to be disclosed.

2. When there is a reasonable belief that a person's conduct places himself/herself or another individual in imminent threat of bodily harm.

3. When there is a reasonable cause to suspect child abuse.

*All other information is strictly confidential. Release of information requires a signed consent form from the individual.
